West Bengal Education minister Bratya Basu has reportedly called up the father of Indranuj Roy, the first-year student of Jadavpur University, who was admitted in hospital on Saturday after being injured, hit by the minister’s vehicle within the university premises on Saturday. Basu expressed his grief over the unfortunate incident.
Indranuj’s father Amit Roy said on Tuesday that the minister himself called him up on Monday night and said he is pained over the incident.
“The minister expressed his pain over the incident also enquired about the health conditions of Indranuj. We are happy over the gesture of the minister," Roy said. I drew his attention to the false allegations against the “false allegations and complaints” against the students.
Meanwhile, Deputy Vice-Chancellor of Jadavpur University Amitabha Dutta spoke about proposals of internal probe on the incident. He said certain discussions have been done with the Vice-Chancellor and a decision in this regard will be taken soon.
The Jadavpur University incident still remains a point of discussion with Trinamool Minister Babul Supriyo saying that he was heckled inside the campus. “I was heckled inside the campus of Jadavpur University,” Supriyo said.
Violence was witnessed in West Bengal's premier Jadavpur University when Union Minister Babul Supriyo came to campus to attend a seminar organised by the Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP), the student wing of the RSS in 2019 when he was in BJP.
