Political power necessary to achieve Telangana, says TRS chief

HYDERABAD: Telangana Rashtra Samiti (TRS) president K Chandrashekhar Rao said here today that the Telangana region should acquire strong political power in addition to its agitation, to achieve separate statehood.

"If we win all MP and MLA seats, we need not forward any application for a separate state. They will grant us separate Telangana state on their won. Of course, we also have to continue our movement to achieve a separate state," he said, addressing a public meeting in Nizamabad district.

He alleged that Telangana region is being neglected within Andhra Pradesh and claimed that Andhra Pradesh Chief Kiran Kumar Reddy had recently threatened not to allocate any funds for Telangana region's development during a recent assembly session debate.
