Police to introduce geo-sattelite image system in Tripura
Tripura police will introduce geo-sattelite image system for spotting the movements of insurgents in the remote and hilly areas, Director General of Police, Selim Ali said today.
"Insurgency is on the wane but its residual part still exists. We shall introduce geo-sattelite image system which will provide a sattelite imagery of the movement of the insurgents in remote hilly areas and in jungles", Ali told reporters here.
Ali, who took over as the DGP last month, said that the entire system of working of the police department would be modernised and the police personnel would be trained in different sectors by introducing more refresher courses on physical training to contain crimes in the state.
Admitting that the crime against women was slightly higher than the national average in the state, he said, a comprehensive planning would be made in consultation with the Tripura Commission for Women and some NGOs which were working on the women issues.
Ali said, "the women of the state are conscious and they register cases when crime is committed against them. But in other states the cases are not registered so frequently."
He said, the rate of conviction in cases of crime against women was higher than national average. "When only 14 per cent is the national rate, in Tripura it is 25 per cent, he added.
