JAIPUR: Police on Thursday opened fire on Gujjar agitators during a road blockade in Rajasthan's Sawaimadhopur district injuring two persons, while four policemen were wounded in clashes between them and the protesters.

Police fired after the protesters who have been indulging in a road blockade agitation at Usali Darra, 12 kms from Sawaimadhopur since yesterday, threw stones at them, police sources told PTI over telephone.

Police first resorted to lathicharge and then lobbed teargas shells at the protesters before opening fire, they said.

The road connecting Sawaimadhopur with Sheopur in Madhya Pradesh had been blocked in stretches by the protesters, they said.
