Police harassing Sangh volunteers: RSS
KOLKATA: The IT wing of RSS and other Sangh affiliated groups are facing police action for spreading “information” about “communal tension” in several districts in Bengal, said RSS. The Sangh Parivaar and other groups had been actively posting information and updates of sporadic clashes since the immersion day. The posts, further, became a headache for the police. West Bengal police had to issue statement through the micro-blogging sites claiming there had been ‘complete peace’ in the state and some 'elements' are spreading lies with "ill motive".

Following several such instances of using social media to 'fuel' tension , police started crackdown on RSS cadres.

“Two of our senior functionaries were picked up from their residences. They are being harassed. Many of our volunteers are also feeling the heat now. But we had to inform people since media was completely silent over the issue,” said Jisnu Bose, state secretary of Bengal RSS unit.

He however maintained that Sangh would not take responsibility of some irresponsible tweets made by some other groups. “There are certain groups who used media in the name of RSS. They are no way related to Sangh,” added Bose. Significantly, there were reports of clashes breaking out in the state during Muharram and Durga idol immersion. The Sangh Parivaar submitted a memorandum to Bengal Governor K N Tripathi in this regard.
