Kolkata: Two main accused have been remanded to 11-day police custody on Friday in connection with murder of a Trinamool leader in South 24 Parganas district’s Joynagar on Monday.

Anisur Laskar and Kamaluddin- the two main accused were arrested in connection with murder of Saifuddin Laskar in South 24 Parganas District's Joynagar on Monday morning. Another person was allegedly lynched in retaliation of the murder of the Trinamool Panchayat leader. Anisur Laskar was absconding and was nabbed by police from Nadia yesterday.

Meanwhile, Congress was not allowed by police to enter South 24 Parganas district with aid for the people whose houses were set ablaze. Earlier, CPI-M leaders and ISF lone MLA Nausad Siddique were also prevented from entering the village in Joynagar.


Congress leaders sat on dharna demanding to enter the village to provide support to the people whose houses were set ablaze.

Police said that only the residents of the area are allowed to enter the village.
