PMK slams PM Narendra Modi, Manohar Parrikar on One Rank One Pension issue
Ramadoss said that youths were 'unwilling' to join the army and government should make it a 'remunerative and glamorous' job.

PMK Youth Wing President and Lok Sabha member Anbumani Ramadoss said though the previous UPA government had accepted recommendations to implement OROP, it had, however, not done so even as the Modi government had promised to give it.
"One year after coming to power NDA is yet to fulfil its promise. It is a mystery why even after allocating Rs 1000 crore for the scheme in 2014-15 budget the government is hesitant to initiate OROP. It is unfair on the part of the Prime Minister ( Narendra Modi) and Defence Minister ( Manohar Parrikar) in not taking measures to fulfil their promises," he said in a statement.
It was the duty of the nation to ensure the welfare and security and future of soldiers and their families, and the "attitude of the government to ignore their demands is nothing but thanklessness," he added.
Further, youths were 'unwilling' to join the army and government should make it a 'remunerative and glamorous' job and to ensure this, OROP must be implemented, he said.
Meanwhile, he also demanded constituting a 'National Soldiers Commission' to look into grievances of the soldiers.
