CHENNAI: The Pattali Makkal Katchi today set up a committee to engage in negotiations with BJP to strike an alliance for the April 24 Lok Sabha elections in Tamil Nadu.

The top policy making body "Administrative Committee" that met here decided to constitute the committee headed by the party President G K Mani, PMK announced in a statement here.

PMK, founded by S Ramadoss, earlier in the day, convened its 39-member Administrative Committee meeting at Tindivanam, about 120 km from here, to take stock of the prevailing political situation and decide on its stand for the polls.

The meeting also authorised Ramadoss to take decision on poll tie-ups and other issues for fighting the Lok Sabha election, the statement said.

PMK's decision comes close on the heels of actor-turned politician Vijayakant's DMDK opening parleys with BJP for forging electoral understanding today.
