CHENNAI:A vocal supporter of prohibition, PMK founder S Ramadoss today led a protest here demanding closure of state-run liquor outlets located in residential areas.

Ramadoss and a number of party workers staged the protest. The PMK leader said the protest was being held to demand implementation of court orders on closing down liquor outlets in residential areas.

Liquor is sold through TASMAC (Tamil Nadu State Marketing Corporation) outlets in the state and is a major revenue grosser for the state government, bringing in thousands of crores of rupees to government coffers.

Ramadoss had been pressing for prohibition for long and reiterated his commitment to struggle for the same.
