CHENNAI: AIADMK and PMK entered into an alliance for the Lok Sabha elections in Tamil Nadu and Puducherry, under which the latter would contest seven seats, including the lone seat from the Union territory.

AIADMK supremo Jayalalithaa made the announcement to the media after PMK founder Dr S Ramadoss called on her at her Poes Garden residence here this morning.

The PMK would also be given a Rajya Sabha seat for the 2010 biennial elections, she said.

She said the allocation of seats to other partners of the AIADMK led front -- MDMK, CPI-M and CPI -- would be announced in a day or two.

With PMK joining the front led by her party, the alliance had been strengthened and results would prove it was a formidable combination", Jayalalithaa claimed.
