Early trends from the Pune Municipal Corporation elections are in for 66 seats, showing a commanding lead for the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). The party is ahead in 44 seats, pointing to a strong showing across the city. The Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) is leading in 16 seats, while the Shiv Sena has taken the lead in four. The Congress and the Shiv Sena (UBT faction) are each ahead in one seat. As counting progresses, the trends clearly place the BJP in a dominant position in Pune.
The contests in Pune and neighbouring Pimpri-Chinchwad are being closely watched, as the two factions of the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) have come together for the first time since their 2023 split. Ajit Pawar’s NCP has allied with Sharad Pawar’s faction, NCP (SP), to challenge the ruling ally, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), in the municipal polls.

Pune Election Result 2026 Live: Pune Records Lower Voter Turnout - State Election Commission
According to the State Election Commission (SEC), Pune witnessed a relatively low voter turnout of around 54 per cent. Across all 29 municipal corporations in Maharashtra, the overall polling percentage stood at 41.13 per cent till 3:30 pm.State Election Commissioner Dinesh Waghmare said the final voter turnout across the state was expected to settle between 46 and 50 per cent.
Pune PMC Election 2026: Comparison With Previous PMC Elections

BJP Secured Clear Majority in 2017
In the 2017 PMC polls, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) emerged as the dominant force, winning 97 seats and securing a clear majority.The Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) finished second with 39 seats, followed by Shiv Sena with 10 seats and the Indian National Congress with nine.
