New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi will be speaking to all Chief Ministers on April 27 and delivering his Mann Ki Baat address on April 26, two addresses which could determine the fate of the ongoing 40-day long lockdown post May 3.

Government sources said the Prime Minister would be seeking the opinion of the Chief Ministers on what should be the recourse to be taken once the lockdown ends on May 3, the meeting coming a week before the same. This will be the fourth PM-CMs video conference during the ongoing lockdown since March 25. The meeting will also act as a “stock-taking exercise” of the effect of the limited relaxations granted since April 20 for boosting industry and agriculture.

“It will have to be a phased and calibrated exit from the lockdown post May 3 in the big metros which are worst affected by the coronavirus. When PM earlier spoke to CMs on April 11, the effect of the Nizamuddin event was reflected in the rising figures from many states. But since, the cases are more of local transmission – especially in metros of Maharashtra, Delhi and Indore,” a senior government official told ET, saying PM would see ‘perspective’ from CMs on this.
