PM to head panel on farm growth

Prior to the meeting of NDC, the full planning commission headed by Dr Manmohan Singh is scheduled to meet later next month.

NEW DELHI: The Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh will chair a meeting of the Planning Commission to finalise state wise strategies for achieving the annual farm growth to beyond 4 per cent.

State specific strategies will be finalised on May 29 at a meeting of the National Development Council (NDC) where state chief ministers are members, an official news release said here on Tuesday.

Prior to the meeting of NDC, the full planning commission headed by Dr Manmohan Singh is scheduled to meet later next month.

Dr Manmohan Singh chaired a meeting of Planning Commission on Tuesday to review the issues relating to power, education and agriculture sectors. Deputy Chairman of Planning Commission Montek Singh Ahluwalia was also present at the meeting held as a precursor to NDC conclave.
