PM should come under Lokpal's ambit: Rajnath

KANPUR: Senior BJP leader Rajath Singh on Monday said his party is in favour of bringing the Prime Minister under the ambit of Lokpal as proposed in the draft of Anna Hazare-led civil society team.

"We believe the Prime Minister should come under the ambit of Lokpal. The Lokpal bill which NDA government had drafted at the time of Atal Bihari Vajpayee also put the Prime Minister in Lokpal's reach," he told reporters on the sidelines of a party function here.

However, on the issue of bringing judiciary under Lokpal, he said it is a matter of discussion and BJP will state its stand only when the bill is placed in the parliament.

Singh stressed the selection process of Lokpal should be transparent and fair, and the ombudsman should be unbiased.
