PM postpones Shimla, Chandigarh visit

Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, who is recuperating from a prostate surgery, has decided to postpone his upcoming visit to Shimla and Chandigarh on doctor's advice.

NEW DELHI: Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, who is recuperating from a prostate surgery, has decided to postpone his upcoming visit to Shimla and Chandigarh on doctor's advice.

"The Prime Minister is still recovering from the prostate surgery he underwent on September 15. Doctors have advised him to limit his activity for a few days more," Prime Minister's Media Advisor Sanjaya Baru said.

Hence, Singh's visit to Himachal Pradesh on September 29 and Punjab the next day has been postponed and therefore he will not be able to participate in the events pertaining to Bhagat Singh's centenary celebrations in Punjab, Baru said.

The Prime Minister had undergone the surgery -- a trans-urethral resection of the prostate gland -- to treat benign enlargement of the gland at the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) here.
