PM Narendra Modi’s new announcements are poll sops: Tarun Gogoi
GUWAHATI: Former Assam Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi on Sunday said the slew of measures announced by Prime minister Narendra Modi on Saturday was nothing but election sops for from the NDA government that has failed to bring back black money.

Demonetisation is a complete disaster, he added. In 2017, Punjab, Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Manipur, Goa, Gujarat and Himachal Pradesh are going to the polls. Modi announced a slew of sops for senior citizens, farmers, rural housing, women and small entrepreneurs.

Gogoi said, “Demonetisation has brought disaster for Assam. State revenue is hit hard and the faith of people in financial system has waned.

Around 62 changes made in the last 50 days have created doubts on the office of PM.” “Modi announced some measures after the 50 days of demonetisation but it is done with an eye on election. He looked like giving Budget speech. The Budget is just one month away what the utility of announcing now is.”
