PM Narendra Modi uses Mann Ki Baat to espouse cause of women, asks people to join the #selfiewithdaughters campaign on Twitter
The Prime Minister asked people to join the #selfiewithdaughters campaign on Twitter by posting their pictures with their daughters.

“The festival of Raksha Bandhan falls in August. Why not we countrymen start a mass movement before Raksha Bandhan under which we provide these social security schemes to our mothers and sisters for their benefit. Be it the woman who prepares food in our house, or the woman who cleans the utensils or the one who works as a labourer in the fields or is our own sister,” Modi said.
The Pradhan Mantri Jeevan Jyoti Bima Yojana requires a person to pay a premium of just Rs 330 per annum to get a life insurance of Rs 2 lakh, while the PM Suraksha Bima Yojana is aimed at providing accidental insurance of Rs 2 lakh at a premium of Rs 12 per annum. The Atal Pension Yojana offers a pension of up to Rs 5,000.
The Prime Minister asked people to join the #selfiewithdaughters campaign on Twitter by posting their pictures with their daughters. The inspiration for this came from an initiative taken by the Sarpanch of Bibipur village in Haryana. Stating that he would retweet the interesting posts himself, Modi said the campaign would help make the “Beti padhao, beti bachaao” initiative more popular.
The Prime Minister used the monthly “Mann ki Baat” programme also to speak on a host of issues, including the monsoons and encourage people to plant more saplings. He hailed the enthusiastic and unprecedented response from all over the world to yoga on International Yoga Day on June 21.
