The Vigilance Awareness Week, from October 31 to November 5, is being observed by the Central Vigilance Commission to generate public awareness about corruption and sensitise the people about its consequences and ways to eliminate it.
A national seminar will be organised in this regard on November 7 followed by a valedictory function.
"The Prime Minister is the chief guest for the valedictory function," a press release issued today by Personnel Ministry said.
The seminar will have two panel discussions on issues of contemporary relevance in this field. K V Chowdary, Chief Vigilance Commissioner, will deliver the keynote address in one of the sessions, it said.
The Central Vigilance Commission has, this year, envisaged a concept of " Integrity Pledge" to enlist support and commitment of citizens and organisations for upholding the highest standards of ethical conduct, honesty and integrity.
As such there are two integrity pledges, one for the citizens and the other for corporates, entities, firms etc, especially in the private sector, the release said.
"Within a few days of the launch of the integrity pledge, around 4 lakh citizens and 15,000 organisations have taken the pledge to combat corruption," it added.
