PM Narendra Modi tears into Mamata Banerjee, Congress-Left alliance in West Bengal

ASANSOL/BIRPARA ( WEST BENGAL): Three days before second part of first phase polls in Bengal, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday alleged that the ruling Trinamool Congress had been involved in large-scale corruption and chief minister Mamata Banerjee did nothing to punish those of her leaders who were seen taking money in front of camera. “We have heard about Sarada and now it is Narada which has exposed many TMC leaders accepting bribes in front of camera and Mamata Didi is silent about this and has not taken any step against such leaders,” Modi told an impressive BJP gathering at the Polo Ground here.

“TMC has become a party of corrupt persons. T stands for terror, M stands for maut (death) and C stands for corruption.

Instead of witnessing any change which Mamata Didi had promised five years back, Bengal is experiencing corruption by ruling party leaders and the chief minister even engaged in doing politics over deaths,” Modi said. Referring to last week’s under-construction flyover incident, Modi said: “Didi has said that the construction of the flyover had started during Left Front regime. I want to ask her one question. Didn’t she take credit once the flyover was constructed without any accident by inaugurating the same? ” Second part of first phase polls in Bengal will take place on April 11.
