PM Narendra Modi should not intervene in triple talaq issue: Mayawati
NEW DELHI: Referring to PM Narendra Modi’s statement on the issue of triple talaq, BSP’ national president and former UP CM Mayawati said there should not be intervention in this matter on part of PM Modi and centre. She felt it is better if this issue is left for the "Ammaray (consensus)” within Muslim community.

Earlier PM Modi, at his rally in UP’s Mohaba on Monday, described the triple talaq as the practice that goes against the rights of Muslim women and added that the issue should not be communalized or politicized.

BSP supremo Mayawati, in a press release issued by BSP on Tuesday, blamed the BJP for trying to impose the agenda of RSS on the people of the country. She criticized the BJP for raking up these issues ahead of assembly polls in various states, including UP.
