Cooperation needed for peace, development, Modi's message to China
Prime Minister Narendra Modi today raised the issues of energy and climate at the BRICS summit which is taking place in Xiamen, China.

Modi said that energy and climate are two key issues.
Modi also met Chinese President Xi Jinping earlier today for the first time after the Doklam border row that raised a war like situation between the two countries.
Modi also used the platform to send a message to China that cooperation is needed for peace and development.
"We are in mission-mode to eradicate poverty; to ensure health, sanitation, skills, food security, gender equality, energy, education," Modi said calling for strong BRICS partnership.
Highlighting India's current Digital India initiative, the Prime Minister said that technology is a powerful too for eradication of poverty.
Digital technology can help spur growth, Modi said.
Modi also highlighted solar energy and said that BRICS countries can work closely with ISA to strengthen the solar energy agenda.
PM Narendra Modi sought early creation of BRICS rating agency to cater to financing needs of sovereign and corporate entities of developing countries.
