PM Narendra Modi outlines 7-point 'mantra' for BJP workers
ALLAHABAD: Narendra Modi, who has earned a reputation for coining and propagating slogans in the past two years of his prime-ministership, surprised many when he stated at the BJP conclave here that people are not satisfied with catchphrases alone and their concern is whether the country is progressing and becoming stronger.

Modi also laid down seven mantras for party workers to follow in their conduct and policy while taking the schemes and programmes of the party and the NDA government to the people.

These are: going to the people with a will to serve, maintaining equanimity, dignity, coordination, optimism, sensitivity and dialogue with the masses. The PM struck a statesman-like stance at the two-day conclave and gave a call to the rank and file to reach out to the masses more effectively. He wants the NDA government’s achievements to be highlighted more aggressively.

“The people across the country are not satisfied with slogans alone. Their concern is whether the country is becoming stronger,” Modi was quoted as having said in his address at the BJP meet that concluded here on Monday.

At the end of two years, Modi and his government has underlined that they are now engaged in implementing the programmes and plans they had announced when the NDA came to power.

Finance minister Arun Jaitley, who briefed the media about the PM’s speech, said the initial period of the NDA government was spent in doing away with the policy paralysis of the previous regime.

The PM invoked Maratha king Shivaji’s dictum that those in power should not use it for their own benefit but for the welfare of the people. “We are witnessing the making of history now. The party has benefited from the work of those who worked for the party in the past. We should...see how we can benefit society.”
