PM Narendra Modi only for NRIs, not locals: Kapil Sibal

NEW DELHI: The Congress has lashed out at Prime Minister Narendra Modi for his recent comments in Shanghai that Indians were ashamed till his government was formed a year ago. "What a fall! Imagine the Prime Minister of India going abroad and declaring Indians were ashamed of being born in our country! Never before in the history of India have we witnessed such low-level talk from a PM. The Congress party will never say we are not proud of the Prime Minister of India, whoever that person may be. But people are realising they have elected a wrong person," Congress leader Kapil Sibal said.

Addressing a press conference at the Congress headquarters, Sibal said, "here is a PM who has notched more miles abroad than even Hillary Clinton (when she was secretary of state). He speaks without supporting facts or evidences…He even said other world leaders were impressed by him! He has all the time for NRIs but nothing to show before the resident Indians."

Making an analyses of the government’s maiden year Sibal said, "inflation has skyrocketed with every food item costing more now. So much for tackling inflation… Black money, which Modi had promised to bring home within the first 100 days and pay each Indian `15 lakh, remains black abroad... Modi had promnised to rid Parliament of MPs with criminal antecedents and we know all MPs are very much there. So much for fighting corruption and cleansing the system."
