PM Narendra Modi has taken up with Britain at highest level students visa norms: Smriti Irani
NEW DELHI: India today said it has taken up with Britain at the highest level the issue of dwindling students outflow to that country due to British government's new policies.

Apparently referring to the issue of stringent visa norms for students, HRD Minister Smriti Irani said in Rajya Sabha that Prime Minister Narendra Modi raised the issue during his bilateral meeting with the UK Prime Minister in November 2014 at Brisbane, Australia.

In addition, he had also raised the issue during his meeting with former Home Secretary and the UK Chancellor of Exchequer in July 2014.

"The External Affairs Minister also raised the issue during the delegation-level talks with the UK Foreign Secretary in July.

"Recently, these issues were also discussed by the HRD Minister with the Minister of Universities, Science and Cities of the UK in the India-UK Eduation Forum held here on November 13, 2014," she said in a written reply.
