PM Narendra Modi government tells SC no logjam in appointments
NEW DELHI: The Narendra Modi government assured the Supreme Court that there is no "logjam" in appointing judges to high courts, a conciliatory gesture to Chief Justice of India TS Thakur who had earlier warned of judicial action to deal with shortage of judges.

"There is no logjam...or blame game," Attorney General Mukul Rohatgi told a bench led by the CJI. He said that some of he recommendations had been cleared while others were in the process of being cleared.

Rohatgi, however, tried to deflect some of the blame to the high courts for initiating the process of appointing a replacement five to seven years after a vacancy arose.
