BHOPAL: Prime Minister Narendra Modi was today congratulated in the Madhya Pradesh Assembly for being named as the ninth most powerful person in the world by Forbes Magazine.

The matter was mentioned by BJP's national general secretary and MLA Kailash Vijaywargiya in the House during the day-long special session of the assembly.

"The prestigious Forbes magazine has mentioned Prime Minister's name as the ninth most powerful person in the world which is matter of pride for over 1.25 billion Indians. He has enhanced the country's image in the world.

Backing the views of the BJP MLA, Speaker Sitasharan Sharma said, "This House congratulates the Prime Minister Narendra Modi. It has raised the pride of the House as well as of the nation.

Contesting the Speaker's observation, Congress member Bala Bachchan asked "under what rule" he was doing so.

Responding to this, the Speaker said the House has kept up this tradition in the past. "There is no question of any violation of any rule," he said.
