Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to launch his 2024 election campaign from Bulandshahr, western Uttar Pradesh, on Thursday. The move follows the grand consecration ceremony of Ram Lalla in Ayodhya, with the Bharatiya Janata Party aiming to reve...

The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) anticipates a massive turnout at the rally, with claims that around five lakh people will attend. The decision to start the campaign from Bulandshahr, instead of Modi's home constituency, Varanasi or Ayodhya, has led to speculation about the strategic reasoning behind this choice.
The BJP, which secured a resounding victory in Uttar Pradesh in the 2014 Lok Sabha elections, but saw a minor setback in 2019, winning 62 out of 80 seats. Western Uttar Pradesh proved challenging for the party, which faced defeats in six constituencies. With the upcoming 2024 elections, Prime Minister Modi aims to reverse this trend, particularly in the eight out of 14 seats the BJP currently holds in the region.
Many in BJP feel that Bulandshahr is also lucky for Narendra Modi as PM launched his campaign for 2014 Lok Sabha polls from this city.
PM Modi also intends to connect with voters and supporters in areas where the party faced challenges in the previous elections. The focus is on sharing the winning mantra and garnering support in a bid to secure victory in the contested seats of western Uttar Pradesh.
In the backdrop of these developments, Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav, who recently announced an alliance with Rashtriya Lok Dal (RLD) for the upcoming Lok Sabha polls, emphasized the need for further discussions with Congress regarding the seat-sharing formula in the state. Stressing the importance of winnability, Yadav called for party workers to ensure the registration of supporters in the new voter list. He accused the BJP government in the state of removing names of some party workers from the list.
As Congress and the Samajwadi Party engage in seat-sharing talks for the upcoming Lok Sabha polls, the political landscape in Uttar Pradesh seems poised for an intriguing contest in the months to come.
