PM Modi's US Visit: Narendra Modi’s dinner at the Pierre
NEW YORK: The hottest ticket in town during Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s stay in New York was a dinner hosted in his honour by Ambassador S Jaishankar at The Pierre, on Fifth Avenue, across the Central Park, on Sunday night.

External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj, Reliance Chairman Mukesh Ambani, Indian American business executives Ajay Banga and Indra Nooyi, and a number of members of Congress were among the 720 attendees. “The US government was heavily represented,” a source who attended the dinner said.

“The prime minister shook hands with every guest,” another attendee, an Indian American community leader, said. “He was very patient while taking pictures and looked energetic.”

Modi, who was scheduled to arrive at the Grand Ballroom at 7:15 pm, reached seven minutes late. He made up for the delay by limiting his speech to a little over five minutes.
