PM Modi's 100 days: Youth Congress plans demonstration against government on September 25
NEW DELHI: Youth Congress activists staged dharnas outside the official residences of some Union ministers in Delhi on Tuesday to protest against the Delhi Police’s denial of permission to hold a demonstration against, "all-round failure of the Narendra Modi government in its first 100 days."

The YC national leadership has now sought permission to hold a demonstration on September 25, and aims to bring around two lakh activists to the national Capital.

YC workers who staged dharnas in front of the residences of ministers Rajnath Singh, Smriti Irani, Sadanad Gowda and in front of Krishi Bhavan, raised issues of communal situation, inflation, border tension, etc. They were arrested and removed from the venues.

"The decision of the Delhi Police to deny permission to YC to hold a demonstration on Tuesday in flimsy ground was a clear violation of our democratic rights. YC activists, therefore, staged dharnas outside the residence of many Union ministers to register our protest against the Modi government’s failure to keep promises during its first 100 days. We will continue with our protest to demand that the Delhi Police give us permission to hold a demonstration on September 25," YC national President Rajiv Satav said.

The YC programme coincides with many young AICC secretaries mulling ways to show that the youth section of Congress is more aggressively ranged against the NDA regime, something which could help them divert the focus away from the internal issues.

There are indications that Gandhi might attend the Sept 25 dharna which may also see a larger participation of younger elements in AICC and Congress’ frontal organisations.
