PM Modi visit to boost BJP's Punjab campaign
BJP's renewed focus on Punjab is evident from the visits by PM Narendra Modi, Union home minister Amit Shah and BJP president Nitin Nabin to the state over the past few months. Nabin concluded a three-day tour of Punjab on June 22.

Now, Modi is scheduled to visit the Doaba region of Punjab.

Sources told ET that he will inaugurate the renovated Jalandhar Cantonment railway station on July 13. Following the inauguration, BJP is planning a large public gathering that Modi is expected to address. Earlier, on February 1, the PM visited Dera Sachkhand Ballan in Jalandhar to participate in the birth anniversary celebrations of Guru Ravidas.

Sources also told ET that Shah is expected to visit Punjab soon to assign responsibilities to party leaders ahead of next year's assembly elections.
