Kolkata: After his two-day visit to the northeastern states of Manipur, Mizoram and Assam, Prime Minister Narendra Modi will inaugurate the three-day 16th Combined Commanders Conference (CCC) in Kolkata at the Eastern Command headquarters on Monday morning.

Reaching Kolkata on Sunday evening from Assam, the second time in less than a month, the PM will inaugurate the CCC 2025 at the Indian Army's Eastern Command headquarters at Vijay Durg, the erstwhile Fort William. CCC 2023, held in Bhopal, was also inaugurated by Modi.

Focusing on reforms, transformation and operational preparedness, the theme for this year's conference is ‘Year of Reforms - Transforming for the Future’. The high-level conference will be attended by defence minister Rajnath Singh, national security advisor Ajit Doval, chief of defence staff General Anil Chauhan and defence secretary Rajesh Kumar Singh, along with the chiefs of the three forces –– Army, Navy and Air Force –– among others.

The CCC serves as a brainstorming forum for the armed forces, bringing together the nation’s top civil and military leaders to exchange views at the conceptual and strategic levels.

CCC 2025 will focus on reforms, transformation and operational preparedness. “Together, these reflect the armed forces’ commitment to institutional reforms, deeper integration and technological modernisation, while sustaining a high level of multi-domain operational readiness,” MoD said in a statement.

“The deliberations will seek to strengthen the armed forces which are agile and decisive in an increasingly complex geo-strategic landscape. Continuing with the tradition of inclusive engagement, the conference will feature interactive sessions with officers and personnel of various ranks of the armed forces, ensuring that field-level perspectives enrich the discussions at the highest level,” an MoD statement said.

Modi will stay at the Raj Bhawan, and inaugurate the conference at 9.30 am on September 15, before departing for Purnea in Bihar on Monday afternoon.

During his last visit to Kolkata on August 22, Modi laid the foundation stone for and inaugurated multiple development projects worth over Rs 5,200 crore in West Bengal.

This is the PM’s second trip to Kolkata in less than a month. The visit is part of a tour across five states—Mizoram, Manipur, Assam, West Bengal, and Bihar –– where he will inaugurate and lay the foundation stones for projects worth Rs 71,850 crore.
