PM Modi tells MPs to counter critics who 'habitually run down BJP'
NEW DELHI: Reacting to Congress's criticism that the Centre was favouring corporate houses, senior BJP member Venkaiah Naidu said on Sunday that the Ambanis and Gautam Adani were already rich and didn't amass their millions under a BJP regime. With Congress and other opposition parties in no mood to budge on the land bill, PM Narendra Modi, addressing party MPs on Sunday , positioned himself as someone who worked for the poor and not for “corporate“ interests as his rivals keep harping on. “All decisions I am taking are for the welfare of the poor... We are working for the poor, we have set out for them (hum jitey hain unkey liye, hum nikley hain unke liye), not for being in news but because we cannot sleep peacefully if we don't do it. We live for the poor. We are in public life not to enjoy power but for the welfare of the poor.“

The PM slammed critics for their “congenital habit“ of running down BJP which he told his MPs to counter. While he refrained from mentioning the land bill, Modi dwelt at length on Centre's steps for “benefit“ of the poor and farmers and asked MPs to highlight them.
