Prime Minister Narendra Modi, while addressing the Rajya Sabha during the discussion on the Motion of Thanks to the President's Address on Thursday, attacked attempts to spread "caste poison" in society.

He further defended his NDA government’s decision to grant constitutional status to the OBC Commission.

"Today, attempts are being made to spread caste poison in the society...For many years, OBC MPs from all parties had been demanding constitutional status for the OBC Panel. But their demand was rejected, as it might not have suited their (Congress) politics. But we gave constitutional status to this panel," he said while addressing the Uppar House of the Parliament.

'Sabka sath, sabka vikas'

While addressing the Upper House of the Parliament, the prime minister also highlighted the NDA government's commitment to inclusive development and attacked the Congress for its divisive politics.

"Our government, inspired by the mantra of 'Sabka Sath, Sabka Vikas', gave 10% reservation to the poor of the general category," he said in his speech.

The saffron party supremo also took a jibe at Congress’ political strategy and accused the party of belittling others and destabilising governments.

"The mantra of Congress's politics has always been to belittle others...this has led them to destabilize governments. Whenever any political party formed a government, they made it unstable. Due to the path they have chosen, even those who were with them after the Lok Sabha elections are now fleeing," PM Modi said.

"Nation first is BJP's priority, people have supported our development model," he added.
