Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday met Air Chief Marshal AP Singh and is understood to have discussed operational preparedness and the current security situation in the aftermath of the Pahalgam terrorist attack.

Earlier on Saturday, Navy chief Admiral Dinesh Tripathi informed the PM about the forces' readiness. Army chief Gen Upendra Dwivedi is set to meet Modi soon.

Within the armed forces too, there have been a flurry of meetings and top-level discussions on the steps taken by Pakistan since last month's deadly attack on tourists.

Ceasefire violations on the Line of Control have continued for several days, with Pakistani forces targeting Indian positions with small Arms fire.

Speaking at Sanskriti Jagran Mahotsav, defence minister Rajnath Singh said: "You all know PM Narendra Modi's work ethic and perseverance. What you desire will certainly happen."
