PM Modi renews membership as the first active member of BJP

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday renewed his membership as the first active member of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), launching the Sakriya Sadasyata Abhiyan. Announcing the campaign on X (formerly Twitter), PM Modi emphasized its role in strengthening the party's grassroots presence and promoting national progress.

As part of the initiative, BJP workers, or *Karyakartas*, are required to register 50 new members in a single booth or Vidhan Sabha seat to qualify as active members. These individuals will be eligible to contest elections within the party's structure and contribute actively to its operations.

PM Modi also highlighted that the membership drive coincides with the implementation of 33% reservation for women in legislative assemblies and Parliament. He lauded the BJP as the only party following democratic processes thoroughly while expanding its reach.


The 2024 membership drive, Sanghatan Parva, Sadasyata Abhiyan 2024, launched on September 2, saw remarkable participation, with 47 lakh members registered on the first day. In the first phase (September 2-25), over 6 crore members were enrolled, demonstrating the party's widespread influence. Uttar Pradesh and Madhya Pradesh each registered over 1 crore members, while Gujarat and Assam enrolled 85 lakh and 50 lakh members, respectively.

The second phase of the drive, from October 1-15, will focus on enrolling members in regions lagging in the process, ensuring coverage across *Shakti Kendras* and booths through targeted outreach.
