PM Modi pays tribute to the scientists of Pokhran on National Technology Day

The Prime Minister also tweeted his respects for former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee - under whom the nuclear tests were conducted - while praising his strong leadership.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi has tweeted in praise of everyone who is leveraging technology to bring a positive change in people’s lives, on the occasion of National Technology Day.

On this day in 1998, India began conducting its second ever nuclear test at the Indian Army’s Pokhran test range; the tests - five of them - took place over a span of three days in the Thar desert.





The Prime Minister also tweeted his respects for former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee - under whom the nuclear tests were conducted - while praising his strong leadership.


In another tweet, Modi spoke about the need to harness technology to beat the current crisis - the coronavirus pandemic - and to create a healthier and better planet.
