PM Modi lists 5 big problems Bengal is facing, says crises are plaguing the state

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday addressed a public gathering in Alipurduar, West Bengal, where he sharply criticised the Trinamool Congress (TMC) government and listed five major issues the state is facing.

“Today, West Bengal is struggling with serious problems. People no longer want a ‘Nirmam Sarkar’ (cruel government). They are asking for change and better governance,” Modi said.

He said the first issue is the widespread violence and lawlessness, which are damaging society. The second is the insecurity among women, as crimes against them continue to shock the state.


The third problem, he said, is the rising unemployment, which is creating frustration among the youth. The fourth issue is corruption, which is weakening people’s trust in the government.

The fifth problem, according to Modi, is the selfish politics of the ruling party.

“This is hurting the poor, who are being denied their basic rights. What happened in Murshidabad and Malda shows how cruel and careless the TMC government has become,” he added.

Modi also criticised the TMC over the teacher recruitment scam, saying the government had "destroyed the future of thousands of teachers and their families" by allowing corruption and unfair hiring. “This is not just about jobs, it is about damaging the whole education system. Even now, TMC won’t take responsibility. Instead, they blame the courts,” he said.

He added that young people, poor families, and the middle class are all suffering due to the government’s actions.

Modi also said he was disappointed that the West Bengal government did not attend the recent Niti Aayog meeting. He accused the TMC of caring more about politics than development.

Mamata Banerjee Hits Back

West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee hit back at Prime Minister Narendra Modi after his rally in Alipurduar, accusing him of using divisive politics.

"Modi's policy is divide and rule," said Bengal CM Mamata Banerjee.

She also claimed the Centre's 'Operation Sindoor' was launched just to gain political attention.
