PM Modi has problem whenever Congress promises benefits to poor: Mallikarjun Kharge

Congress chief Mallikarjun Kharge hit back at Prime Minister Narendra Modi for the latter’s charge that the welfare schemes (guarantees) being promised to the people by Congress can result in bankruptcy. Kharge claimed that while the Congress offered such concessions to the people, Modi did that for industrialists.

“PM Modi can provide concessions and give other benefits to big industrialists, but he has a lot of problems whenever we promise to provide anything for the benefit of the poor,” Kharge said here.

Kharge accused the Modi government of carrying out a “fire sale” of national assets and PSUs to its “crony capitalist friends” and claimed that this was the “single biggest antinational” act.


“This destructive loot is snatching away job opportunities for India’s poor, SCs, STs, OBCs,” he alleged while averring that privatisation of PSUs will lead to lack of reservation for jobs for these social sections.

The Congress president was at the party headquarters to interact with party workers, his second such interactive session since he assumed office.
