Gandhinagar: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday lashed out at the Congress, charging the Opposition party with various allegations of corruption.

Inaugurating several infrastructure projects in Dwarka, including India's longest cable bridge that connects Dwarka with Best Dwarka, Modi alleged that the entire strength of the Congress continued to be focused on advancing one family. "If only one family had to do everything, how could the thought of building a nation arise," he asked.

"Finding a way to contain scandals and manage the administration for five years consumed all of their strength. That is why India could only rank as the eleventh largest economy in the ten years prior to 2014," Modi said

The potential to realise such lofty aspirations for a large nation was lacking while the economy was so tiny, Modi said. "They (Congress) would use corruption to steal the meagre funds set aside for infrastructure. Congress participated in the 2G scam at a time when the nation needed to upgrade its telecom infrastructure. When Congress had the chance to update the nation's sporting facilities, they took advantage of the Commonwealth fraud. Congress got entangled in the submarine and helicopter scams when it became time to fortify the nation's defences. Congress is only capable of betraying trust in the face of all national needs," he added.

He also held a roadshow in Rajkot and dedicated AIIMS in Rajkot (Gujarat), Bathinda (Punjab), Raebareli (UP), Kalyani (West Bengal) and Mangalagiri (Andhra) and addressed another public meeting.
