NEW DELHI: Prime Minister Narendra Modi today asked partymen to make a "strong" push for passage of crucial legislations in the Budget Session of Parliament starting tomorrow in the interest of the nation.

At a meeting of the executive of the BJP Parliamentary Party, chaired by him at his residence, Modi asked party leaders to take up legislative business "strongly and effectively".

The meeting, which lasted almost two hours, was attended by around 20 party leaders, including BJP President Amit Shah and Union Ministers Rajnath Singh, Arun Jaitley, Sushma Swaraj, Nitin Gadkari and M Venkaiah Naidu, besides Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi and Rajiv Pratap Rudy.

Modi said his party leaders should press for pro-people bills and help in getting these passed in Parliament. He also asked them to put BJP's point of view on such crucial legislations very effectively for all in the society to understand.

A number of crucial legislations, including the insurance bill, the land acquisition bill and conversion of many ordinances issued by government into laws are pending in Parliament due to the opposition logjam.
