Assam chief minister, Himanta Biswa Sarma said that names of Prime minister Narendra Modi and Home minister Amit Shah will be etched in golden letters for inking Bodo Accord and ensuring the there is no further division of Assam.

Sarma speaking at foundation laying ceremony of Tamulpur medical college said, “When I was child there was an agitation in Bodoland almost similar to Assam Agitation. Since 1967 there was a movement and there was demand for divide Assam fifty.”

He said, “By inking this accord Modi and Shah’s name are etched in golden letters. We will ensure all the clauses of Accord are implemented within two years".

Assam is coming up with as many as 23 medical colleges. Sarma said that Assam has witnessed 5014 deaths due to COVID-19. “Soon we achieve the one Crore Vaccination doses.”

The Chief Minister further said that in last six decades after independence there were only six medical colleges in Assam. However, the BJP led government after coming to power initiated steps for setting up 23 new medical colleges, out of which few are completed while many are on various stages of implementation process.

He further informed that the Assam government in a bid to providing succor to the Covid affected families, especially those who lost their family members initiated Chief Minister's Sishu Sewa Achoni, Chief Minister's Widow Support Scheme and Prarthana Scheme. Under Prarthana Scheme, Rs one lakh would be provided to 5114 next of kin of deceased Covid patients.

Earlier giving a major boost to Assam and NE’s cancer treatment infrastructure, the Union Home Minister inaugurated the Radio Therapy Block of State Cancer Institute at GMCH and also dedicated the newly installed state-of-the-art Linear Accelerator machine at the centre to the service of the people. This treatment facility apart from tremendously augmenting state's fight against cancer and is expected to bring succour to the affected people in the region.
