NEW DELHI: Russian President Vladimir Putin hosted Prime Minister Narendra Modi for a tete-e-tete at the Kremlin in Moscow, on Wednesday evening which was essentially a private affair to push strategic partnership ahead of the 16th edition of the annual summit. Modi received unique gifts on the occasion from his host.

Putin presented Modi a page from the diary of Mahatma Gandhi. The page contains Gandhi's handwritten notes.

Putin also gifted to the Prime Minister, a late-eighteenth century Indian sword from Bengal province. The sword features intricate silver artwork.
