Plea against UP DGP Javeed Ahmad sent to HC bench on service matters
LUCKNOW: Allahabad High Court today directed that a writ petition questioning the appointment of Uttar Pradesh director general of police Javeed Ahmad by the state government be put up before a bench related to service matter cases tomorrow.

A Lucknow bench of justices Amreshwar Pratap Sahi and Attau Rahman Masoodi gave the order on the petition by activist Nutan Thakur.

The petitioner has alleged that Ahmad was appointed superseding 13 IPS officers from the UP cadre when eight of them were available to the state government for consideration, petitioner's counsel Ashok Pandey said.

He claimed that the step was not in line with the Supreme Court ruling.

For the state government, Advocate General Vijay Bahadur Singh along with Additional Advocate General Bulbul Godiyal and Chief Standing Counsel Mansoor Ahmad appeared.

The petitioner sought a direction for removal of Javeed Ahmad from this post.
