Plan outlay before Presidential poll will send wrong signal: BJP

Taking a jibe at Planning Commission approval of Rs 57,000 cr for UP, senior BJP leader Kalraj Mishra said the move smacked of "bribe" to garner votes.

LUCKNOW: Taking a jibe at Planning Commission approval of Rs 57,000 crore for Uttar Pradesh a day before the Presidential poll, senior BJP leader Kalraj Mishra today said the move smacked of "bribe" to garner votes.

The decision would strengthen Centre-state ties no doubt, but, "It has come at a time when the Presidential election is being held... the message it gives is that it is not a package but bribe," Mishra said.

The BJP leader said the allocation should have been made either before or after the Presidential election.
