NASHIK: City police have registered an offence against Shiv Sena candidate for Nashik Lok Sabha seat Hemant Godse and other local party leaders for alleged violation of model code of conduct, police said today.

Sena's district chief Vijay Karanjkar, along with about 150 party activists organised a motorcycle and car rally to welcome Godse two days back, without taking prior permission of local police, they said.

Karanjkar and others held the rally in the city's Pathardi-Phata area close to the busy Mumbai-Agra national highway after Shiv Sena chief Uddhav Thackeray announced Godse's candidature from Nashik.

The offence was registered yesterday under section 188 of IPC (disobedience to order duly promulgated by public servant), section 135 of Mumbai Police Act and section 133 of Representation of the People Act, police added.
