PK Choudhury, former chief executive at ICRA, passes away

He joined ICRA in 1991 on deputation of from IFCI and built a fine rating company, where Moody’s Investors Service Inc is the largest shareholder.

KOLKATA: Pranab Kumar Choudhury, fondly known as PKC in the country's financial circle, passed away Wednesday morning following a sudden cardiac arrest.

PKC, 68, who was credited for building rating company ICRA, suffered the hearth attack while he was chairing a board meeting at Peerless Financial Services in Kolkata. He was rushed to Peerless Hospital but died at the hospital.

He was also the chairman of Peerless Securities Ltd.

He retired from ICRA in January last year as the vice chairman and group CEO. He joined ICRA in 1991 on deputation of from IFCI (then Industrial Finance Corpoiration of India Ltd) and built a fine rating company, where Moody’s Investors Service Inc is the largest shareholder.

He was a director on the boards of several companies including ONGC, Tata Capital Financial Services Ltd and Apeejay Surrendra Park Hotels Ltd and Peerless General Finance & Investment Company Ltd.

He was survived by his wife and daughter.
