Pistol at February 9 event: ABVP's Saurabh Sharma
NEW DELHI: JNUSU joint secretary and ABVP member Saurabh Sharma has claimed there was an armed protester at the February 9 event at the university. And he has also alleged that police have done precious little to nab those from outside and within the university who had raised anti-India slogans that day.

Sharma said he was present at the event that evening.“At 6pm, the programme started and the raised anti-national slogans. Around 7.30pm they lit torches and candles and moved towards Ganga dhaba, breaking ABVP's human chain as we were fewer in num ber,“ Sharma said.

“As we tried to form another human chain to stop the march, one of the protesters took out a pistol. We tried to stop him, but were blocked by their chain formed by girls,“ he added.

Sharma said JNU security allowed the outsiders to slip out in a bus and ABVP activists couldn't go past the human chain. “The bus left the campus from a different gate. I told police that I could help them prepare a sketch of the armed person. They said they will work on it but did nothing. It's been a month now. If JNU, as claimed by the registrar, has its own video, what is stopping it from identifying the people?“ he said.
