PIL seeks to know politician's role in Mumbai train blasts
A petition was filed in the Bombay High Court today seeking the name of the "politician" allegedly behind the July 11, 2006 serial blasts in Mumbai trains, and demanded a CBI probe of the entire case.
The petitioner Feroze Ansari alleged that state Director General of Police P S Pasricha, in a statement reported on July 15, 2006 in papers, had said an MLA was involved in the blasts.
According to Ansari, a privilege motion was moved against Pasricha after this statement in the state assembly, but when filed application under Right to Information Act seeking to know details, the information was denied to him.
The division bench of Chief Justice Swatanter Kumar and Justice J P Deodhar today issued notice to the police as well as the state government, seeking reply in four weeks.
Ansari's petition says that if indeed politicians were involved in the bombing -- in which 187 people were killed -- then case should be handed over to CBI.
The anti-terrorist squad of Mumbai police has completed the probe of the case, arresting thirteen persons, and trial has commenced.
