TIRUCHIRAPPALLI: South India Philatelists' Association has appealed to the Department of Post to come out with a commemorative stamp in honour of former President A P J Abdul Kalam coinciding with his birthday on October 15.

The Chennai-based association along with Tiruchirappalli Philateslists' Association have sent a communication in this regard.

Kalam passed away on July 27 in Shillong.

The local association also made an appeal for issuance of a commemorative stamp on the famous Sri Ranganathaswamy temple at Srirangam here and one on Saint Ramanuja, whose 1,000th birth anniversary falls next year, said one of its office-bearers.
