Percept chief Harindra Singh released in Dubai
Media and entertainment industry personality Harindra Singh, detained last month in Dubai for allegedly possessing drugs, has been released after authorities there withdrew the charges against him.
Singh was released yesterday with two colleagues after the charges of possessing a prohibited substance were withdrawn by the authorities in Dubai.
Ali Abdulla Al Shamsi, Singh's lawyer in Dubai, said in a statement that "the case against my three clients has been closed, all the charges have been withdrawn and they are free. They are free to travel to Dubai as per their needs and continue with their UAE business interests."
Singh, the vice-chairman and managing director of Percept Holdings, has since returned home and attended office today, a company spokesperson said.
Percept is a leading entertainment, media and communications company.
Expressing relief at his release, Singh said it felt "good" to be home. "We had complete faith in the judicial system all along. I am happy that the truth has finally prevailed and our innocence was proven," he said.
